Linda Cebisch Nitz

Nurse Practitioner/ Perioperative Nurse Surgical Assistant

On completion of my nursing degree I commenced a post graduate year at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. I spent the next fifteen years working in operating theatres, in all areas of perioperative nursing including anaesthetics, recovery and in the scrub/scout role.

An ongoing interest in Orthopaedic surgery made the decision easy to further my education and I completed a Masters of Advanced Clinical Practice Specialising in Surgical Assisting. This allowed myself to work for Dr Shillington not only as his Practice Nurse but also as his Surgical Assistant.

While working in this role I have since completed further education by way of a Masters of Nursing Nurse Practitioner degree. This position has broadened my scope of practice and allows the independence to provide Dr Shillingtons patients with ongoing care and support through not only their surgical experience but also their non-surgical journey.

I currently hold a position on the executive committee for the Australian Association of Nurse Surgical Assistants (AANSA). I am a member of the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) and Queensland Orthopaedic Nursing Special Interest Group (QONSIG).
